Dover 200, Dover International Speedway
02 June 2007
Marcos Ambrose has made a sold start in practice for the Dover 200 in hot conditions at Dover International Speedway in Delaware today.
Ambrose continually improved the set-up of the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion ahead of tomorrow’s 200-lap event on the all-concrete, one-mile speedway dubbed ‘The Monster Mile’.
Ambrose was 14th fastest in opening practice, fourth fastest in rookie practice before ending the day 27th fastest in final practice. NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin topped opening and final practice respectively.
The Australian driver is confident that the work and progress achieved today will but him in a good position to challenge for a strong finish in this weekend’s NASCAR Busch Series event.
Qualifying for the Dover 200 will be held tomorrow with the race following four hours later at 3pm US Eastern Time (5:00am Eastern Australian Time).

“This is one of the hardest tracks in NASCAR,” said Ambrose.
“We had a reasonable day. We rolled off the truck with a good package. We never got a chance to do a qualifying run at the end of the day and that hurt our position on the practice sheet.
“We should have a good car for qualifying and then the race tomorrow.
“The weather has been hot and if that continues tomorrow it’s going to take a bit of a toll over 200 laps around this place.”
