Promising Day Ends With Blown Tyre for Ambrose

Yellow Transportation 300, Kansas Speedway

30 September 2007

Marcos Ambrose has set himself up for a good finish in the Yellow Transportation 300 only to have his day end with a blown tyre and contact with the wall at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City today.

Ambrose qualified in 12th position as the fastest rookie in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion and concentrated his efforts on getting his car working well for a run towards the front in the second half of the race.

Ambrose was in 19th position and on the lead lap with 85 laps remaining when a blown tyre sent his car up into the outside concrete wall and out of the race.

Ambrose was classified in 39th position, having completed 125 laps of the 200-lap race.

Ambrose remains in eighth place in the NASCAR Busch Series standings and remains second in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.

Ambrose will next race on October 12 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in the Dollar General 300, race 31 in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series.

“We blew a tyre out,” said Ambrose.

“I’m not saying it’s Goodyear’s fault at all. We got going on that restart and it just didn’t turn going into one there. It just wouldn’t turn.

“The car hit the ground and scooted up the racetrack and did some right side damage.

“It’s too bad. We were looking for a good points day and it didn’t work out.”
