Marcos Ambrose faces his final challenge of the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series with the Ford 300 on Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida this weekend.

Ambrose currently sits eighth in the NASCAR Busch Series standings in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion and is on the verge of achieving a major goal for his rookie year in the NASCAR Busch Series – to finish in the top 10 in the series standings.

The Australian comes into this event after a strong comeback performance at Phoenix International Raceway, which gave Ambrose his sixth Raybestos Rookie of the Race Award for the season.

Homestead is a fast and wide 1.5-mile oval and one that Ambrose is looking forward to as NASCAR celebrates the final event of the season for all three national championship divisions.

Ambrose and the #59 crew from Wood Brothers/JTG Racing are quietly pleased about this year’s progress but are determined to finish the season with a strong result in Florida to cement Ambrose’s top 10 position in the points as well as give the team momentum for the off-season as the team prepares for 2008.

“At the start of the year a big goal of ours was to finish the season in the top 10 in Driver’s Points and coming into Homestead we have that in our sights,” said Ambrose.

“We will be pushing very hard and giving it everything we have got to finish the year strongly to keep us in the top 10.

“Homestead really has an end of season feel and it’s a good track to end the year.

“We only race there once a year so when you run at Homestead it always feels special because everyone is looking forward to going there and there is a real party atmosphere around the event.

“The progressive banking through the turns is good for the racing and it’s a track you can really drive hard. It’s also quite different to drive down the back straight and see the palm trees flashing past – you definitely you know you’re in Florida.

“I think we are strong on all race tracks now and after the things we have achieved this year I’m determined to finish my first season in the NASCAR Busch Series on a good note.

“It’s been a good season for us. I feel we have left a little bit out there on the race track but I feel comfortable and like I belong here and have made progress.

“I want to finish the year strongly to give us a boost as we put in hard work over the off-season. We have some exciting plans for the #59 Kingsford team next year and I’m already keen to get back into next season.”
