Stone Brothers Racing makes progress in race two

Panasonic V8 Supercars, Race 2 Report

Saturday 1 April 2006

The Stone Brothers Racing team made some progress today, with the Caltex Racing Falcon and the JELD-WEN Motorsport Falcon improving on yesterday's performances, finishing 11 th and 17 th respectively.

The SBR crew are continuing to use the weekend to test different set ups on the Falcons in preparation for round two in New Zealand.

Russell Ingall, Caltex Racing

“There were some small improvements with the Caltex Racing Falcon today but it's a slow process at the moment. We just don't quite have the pace.

“We are persisting with the testing and set up of the car and making refinements everyday. It's a long season and we are confident that we will have a strong unit as we progress in the Championship.”

James Courtney, JELD-WEN Motorsport

“I only just managed to avoid the incident between Lee Holdsworth and Rick Kelly in front of me on lap one so I was happy to get through there.

“We had some brake trouble throughout the race caused by debris from the incident coming through the ducts. That meant that I couldn't press on as much as I would have liked.

“We finished the race with a straight car so that's a good start. We'll make some changes tonight and see if we can get on top of it tomorrow.”

Ross Stone , Team Manager, Stone Brothers Racing

“Today was a better day for Stone Brothers Racing although obviously we are not where we would like to be.

“The Caltex Racing car was a little better but we are still not in the window so we will just continue to ride with it this weekend.

“James had some bake problems in the JELD-WEN Motorsport Falcon caused by debris getting lodged in the brakes. It was good to see him get through the race today and we will go forward from here.”
