PRESS ROOM
Queensland Raceway, Test Report
20 & 21 June 2006
Stone Brothers Racing had a soggy two days of testing at Queensland Raceway this week, experiencing very little time on a dry track during the two car test on Tuesday and the second of James Courtney's rookie tests on Wednesday.
Conditions were overcast and wet on both days, however, despite the rain, there were positives to come out of the tests. The team grasped the opportunity to get some good mileage in the JELD-WEN Motorsport Falcon on Wednesday morning before the rain and took the chance to carry out some testing in the wet.
Courtney was also able to become reacquainted with his original JELD-WEN Falcon which has been out of action for the past four rounds after suffering extensive damage at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
James Courtney, JELD-WEN Motorsport
“It was a bit frustrating to get out to Queensland Raceway and find it very wet. While we didn't get much of a run on Tuesday, we made the best of the rookie test on Wednesday and some good things came out of it.
“On the positive side, it was good for me to get a run in the wet. It's the first time I've driven the JELD-WEN Motorsport Falcon on a wet track so it gave me a chance to familiarise myself with the car.
“We were also able to make some small changes which improved some of the things we've been working on. Overall it was fairly promising. Now if only it would rain in Darwin!”
Ross Stone, Team Manager, Stone Brothers Racing
“We had very little dry running over the two days. We probably only got in an hour before being rained out on Tuesday.
“We pressed on with James' second rookie test on Wednesday and we were able to get a good number of laps in before the rain came again.
“We did some testing on wet set ups and made some really good progress. So while it wasn't an ideal set of circumstances we did make some valuable gains from the two days.”
