The AFL wishes to advise it has invited the two former greats of St Kilda and the Geelong Cats respectively, to be the presenter of the 2009 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup to the winning club.
Since 2004, the AFL has asked a former great of the winning team to be on hand to present the premiership cup, and is delighted that Darrel Baldock and Bob Davis have accepted the AFL’s offer for this week’s Grand Final.
St Kilda - Darrel Baldock. Darrel played 119 games for St Kilda between 1962-68, kicking 237 goals. He was St Kilda best and fairest in 1962, 1963 and 1965, St Kilda captain 1963-68 and captain of the 1966 premiership side. He was named in the St Kilda team of the century as captain at centre-half forward and was named a Legend of the Game in the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2006, after being an inaugural inductee in 1996.
Geelong Cats - Bob Davis. Bob played 189 games for Geelong between 1948-58, kicking 149 goals. He was a member of the 1951 and 1952 premiership sides, captained the club from 1955-58 and was best and fairest in 1957. He was coach from 1960-65, leading the club to the 1963 premiership. He was named in the Geelong team of the century and was inducted to the Australian Football Hall of Fame in the inaugural year of 1996.
